Be Neutral

The Be.Neutral agenda aims to position Portugal as an exporter of cyber-physical zero-carbon mobility products to cities around the world. This agenda is based on the opportunity to develop, industrialise and operate new mobility products and services (physical devices, connectivity and data science platforms), with the capacity to quantify avoided emissions in real time in order to accelerate carbon neutrality by 2030. Led by NOS, the consortium includes 44 partners (29 companies, 14 ENESII and 1 cluster) and 8 cities as development, testing and demonstration environments for the products and services.

Simoldes’ participation aims to lead the development of two platforms, one physical and the other digital, focussing on improvements in sustainability and urban mobility. The physical platform involves the creation of a light four-wheeled vehicle, category L7e (<450kg) called BEN, designed for the shared urban mobility service. This innovative vehicle will be manufactured using technologies and materials that minimise its carbon footprint, with the aim of establishing itself as a market benchmark in the low environmental impact (LCA) category.

Additionally, the ambition of this project includes a series of innovative initiatives in technologies and materials, with the aim of continually improving BEN. This will promote an exceptional user experience, while maintaining a commitment to the essential environmental principles that guide the development of this project, including the 5Rs: Recyclability, Reduction, Reuse, Refuse and Repair.

As far as the digital platform is concerned, it will enable the connectivity of the BEN vehicle and its integration with the other platforms on the BeNeutral agenda (BEN4us, Bus-as-a-Service and Bike4all), allowing seamless interaction between these mobility services.
